Es formà a Lleida, i aviat va donar a conèixer la seva obra a París on triomfà amb l'obra Com a gos mullat.
Al Gregorio, sempre compromès amb la pintura, alguns crítics l'han definit com a existencialista o neoexpressionista. I lligat a un sentiment agredolç que produeix la necessitat de pintar o sentir-se part de la pintura.
Així, la seva obra no es pot separar de les seves vivències, ja que és un artista intrínsecament emocional. A qui li interessa l'experiència constant, les novetats i les emocions que li atorguen els seus viatges i el seu dia a dia.
OBRA
Les seves obres, són quasi sempre marcades per les seves pròpies sensacions, que plasma amb un traç ferm del seu pinzell a la seva obra. La seva tècnica és marcadament gestual i es mou entre la figuració i l'abstracció.
Cada sèrie d'obres, porta a l'espectador a sentir tot un cúmul de sensacions i sentiments diferents i universals.
Un dels seus darrers grans projectes, és la creació d'un monumental llenç de 400 metres quadrats, que s'exposa a la sala de turbines de l'antiga fàbrica de maquinària bèl·lica, de Peenemünde.
En aquest lloc es dissenyaven i fabricaven els prototipus de maquinària bèl·lica hitleriana. A costa del treball forçat de milers de presoners en condicions extremes, esclaus. Avui en dia, Peenemündeés un museu d'història que vol servir a la cultura de la pau mundial.
Gregorio Iglesias Mayo, amb aquesta obra volia reescriure el passat cruel d'acord amb les seves paraules: "imprimir la història que em transmetien els objectes que m'anava trobant"
La Vinya dels Artistes
Ja l'any 2013 aquesta artista va pintar al mig del camí de La Vinya dels Artistes l'obra "Entre el Cel i la Terra". Un impressionant mural de 60 metros i 5 metres i mig d'ample creat diàriament durant quasi dos mesos a l'aire lliure pintant de nit i de dia. Sota les inclemències del temps, subjecte també a les interaccions del treball del camp i els relleus del terreny. El resultat és una obra titànica, completament lligada al territori de Les Garrigues, amb fortes notes oníriques i d'un gran simbolisme personal.
Altres sèries seves són: els gossos, els paisatges de les Garrigues, l'interior dels metros de París que n'evoca a un túnel de la vida, les llibreries. El seu llenguatge particular sempre referència als grans mestres a qui sempre ret homenatge.

Gregorio Iglesias Mayo
Gregorio Iglesias Mayo, trained in Lleida, and soon he exhibed his work in Paris where he succeeded with the work “Com a gos mullat”.
Gregorio, always committed to painting, has been defined by some critics as existentialist or neo-expressionist and linked to a bittersweet feeling that produces the need to paint or feel part of the painting.
Thus, his work cannot be separated from his experiences as he is an intrinsically emotional artist who is interested in the constant experience, the novelties and the emotions that give him his travels and his day to day. His works are always marked by his own sensations, which he shapes with a firm stroke of his brush in his work. His technique is markedly gestural and moves between figuration and abstraction
Each series of works leads the viewer to feel a whole accumulation of different and universal sensations and feelings
One of his latest major projects is the creation of a monumental 400-square-meter canvas on display in the turbine room of the former Peenemünde war machine factory. In this place the prototypes of Hitler’s war machinery were designed and manufactured at the expense of the forced labor of thousands of prisoners in extreme, enslaved conditions. Today, Peenemünde is a history museum that serves the culture of world peace
Gregorio Iglesias Mayo, with this work wanted to rewrite the cruel past according to his words: “print the story transmitted to me by the objects I was finding”
Already in 2013 this artist painted in the middle of the path of La Vinya dels Artsites the work “Between Heaven and Earth”: an impressive mural of 60 meters and 5 meters and a half wide created daily for almost two months outdoors painting night and day, under inclement weather whether it was snow or rain, also subject to the interactions of field work and terrain reliefs. The result is a titanic work, completely linked to the territory of Les Garrigues, with strong dreamlike notes and great personal symbolism.
His other series are: the dogs, the landscapes of Les Garrigues, the interior of the Parisian metros that evokes them in a tunnel of life, the bookshops. His particular language always refers us to the great masters to whom he always pays homage.
