Hélène Gélinas’s paintings reflect a deep concern for this intimate and transparent dimension, moving beyond purely technical considerations and prevailing artistic trends.

Born in Shawinigan (Québec, Canada), Hélène Gélinas studied graphic design in California and Australia, painting in Seville with Jesús Alcántara, and pictorial restoration in Barcelona. This diversity of disciplines and places has clearly influenced her artistic practice. Working within a distinctly realistic language, her paintings demonstrate particular care in the construction of the image. The process often begins with a rapid pencil sketch and evolves through successive layers of paint, where the backgrounds frequently assume a central role in the final composition.

Through her work, she creates atmospheres and emotional resonances, seeking not merely to represent her subjects faithfully but to capture their essence—whether animals, still lifes, or human figures.
