The world of the couple
An unknown world to explore... I present here an autobiographical work, recurrent throughout my pictorial career. The couple, has a whole path to explore. In this piece, I present a quiet couple at a good time in their relationship. A couple is located in the middle of trees. I am from the garden of Lleida and I always see trees wherever I look. The characters are the main element, and the rest is landscape to place the observer. I present my usual moais, but transformed by the passage of time. I've been doing this Moai series since about 2000. I was inspired by the statues on Easter Island, very striking and very solid. I continue with the series of the moai, but in each work I insert novelties; they are the same idea and a color in constant evolution. I want to introduce a concept for these two works. SANKOFA. Concept of the Akan people of West Africa. It means going back to the root. And here I am going back to my roots, THE MOAIS. Theme recurrent in my career, and that defines me as creative. To conclude a sentence by Marcel Proust. “The true journey of discovery does not consist in looking for new landscapes, but in changing the look.”
