Valeriya Lorés

Valeriya explains what inspires her when it comes to her work: What inspires her the most when it comes to her work are women's stories and poetry. Every time she hears a poem that moves her, she asked herself: what if it became a drawing and turned into a canvas?
This is exactly how this work came about: she took her favorite poems by American poet Mary Oliver and imagined them as women, living and walking among us in these challenging times.
Often, like Mary Oliver herself, she seeks solace in nature. That is why all her paintings are rendered in various shades of green, with a touch of gold leaf: a spark of hope and light.
The first thing she does is to create several backgrounds with watercolor, then scans them and works them in Photoshop as cut-outs, one on top of the other to create different silhouettes and shapes. He then prints the drawing on cold-pressed watercolor paper and hand-embroiders the outline of each silhouette to give it texture and an ethereal feel.
