The painter Joaquín Ureña (Lleida, 1946) focuses his artistic creation on the watercolour technique on urban and interior themes with a new concept and large formats.

He has made more than seventy solo exhibitions and has participated in more than one hundred collective  exhibition  throughout Spain.

He has obtained forty national awards, as: Silver Pámpana at the LV National Exhibition of Plastic Arts in Valdepeñas and the 1st López-Villaseñor Prize for Painting in Ciudad Real in 1994; 1st Prize Fundación Díaz Caneja in Palencia; Extraordinary Reina Sofía Prize and BMW Medal in Madrid in 1996; 1st Prize XL National Painting Contest Caja San Fernando in Seville in 1999. In 1998 he obtained the Morera Medal in Lleida.

His work is in the collection of national museums, foundations and private collections: Almería Museum Art Center, Díaz Caneja Foundation (Palencia), City Museum (Madrid), López-Villaseñor Museum ”(Ciudad Real), Municipal Museum ( Valdepeñas), Focus-Abengoa Foundation (Seville), Ibercaja (Zaragoza), Adolfo Lozano-Sidro Municipal Board (Priego de Córdoba), Morera Museum (Lleida).
