Description of the work

The artwork Koi-drac (trilogia de la tranfORmació) by the artist Aurembiaix Sabaté

Galeria Espai Cavallers

This piece is elaborated with mixed technique (marbled, pencil, colored dyes and gold leaf) on handmade paper.

It has a size of 59 x 73 cm.

The artwork belongs to the series Trilogia de la transfORmació, which consists of three works elaborated by the artist based on the concept of transformation seen from an orientalist perspective.

“The works are inspired by the process of Transformation, the legend of the Koi Carp that turns into a Dragon, the resurrection of the phoenix. The maturation of this process of death and life. The golden, the light, the sun, and the gold, symbol of spiritual wealth. The circle of transformation of the flower itself becoming what will be the fruit. The circle as a symbol, without knowing where it begins and where it ends, eternal. The Koi carp struggles, swims against the current to get to jump the waterfall and when it succeeds, the divine reward is to become a Dragon”.

The impulse that guides me to discover the true essence is manifested in the creation of the series of works “Transformation and Alchemy.” Inspired by alchemical literature and a series of symbolisms, a part of Greek mythology and Japanese mythology, the form emerges, figures that blur as I delve into what is deep.Darkness, descend into the interior of the cave itself, to ascend to the sky and light. All sustained by the circle, the perfection of the four elements, which is dense and subtle, always in continuous cosmic harmony “
